For enjoying the ultimate park experience,
make your overnight stay at one of the scenic
Grand Canyon lodges.
On the South Rim stands the
crown jewel of Grand Canyon lodges, the El Tovar.
Built in 1905, this National Historic Landmark
hotel sits right at the edge of the rim. It
has been host to thousands of visitors for a
century. Reserve
early and be sure to make dining reservations
too!
The rustic lodges on the South Rim are basic
and comfortable - a great value for staying
walking minutes away from the view. Check availability
for Bright
Angel and Maswik
located at Grand Canyon Village and Yavapai
at Yavapai Point.
Located overlooking the North Rim is
Grand Canyon Lodge, a National Historic Landmark.
It is constructed from beautiful Kaibab limestone
with native timber ceilings and contains a restaurant,
gift shop, and gathering areas. Most of the
lodging at the North Rim is in rustic cabins
(see cabins). There
are 40 motel rooms available with queen size
bed and optional rollaway. The North Rim is
open mid-May through mid-October. If you want
to get away from the crowds and enjoy peaceful
surroundings and beautiful views, this is the
place to go.
The famous Phantom Ranch is located in the
Inner Canyon oasis at Bright
Angel Creek. It consists of lodge and cabins.
The cabins are available to guests on mule ride
tours, while the lodge may be reserved by hikers.
Lodging is dormitory style with separate bunk
beds for men and women. Each area has ten beds,
shower, and restroom. A backcountry permit is
not required, but reservations
must be made well ahead, including reservations
for meals.
