Grand Canyon Campgrounds

Campground life is the "good life" at the Grand Canyon

evening scene at grand canyon

What better place is there to experience nature than a Grand Canyon campground? Choose an early evening observation point and take in the subtle shifting of colors as the sun drops behind the far horizon—suddenly it is night, and the stark blackness and quiet of the massive landscape elicits a small shiver of surprise. Awaken before sunrise and behold morning come alive as the first rays of sun wash the canyon walls with color. Small wildlife critters come out to play when it is more quiet.

campground at Mather PointThe hands-on adventure of Grand Canyon camping, whether traditional or outback, is an intimate connection to the park. Savor the aroma of dinner cooking over an open fire, listen to the ranger's talk and playfully participate in the silly games, warm yourself from the embers of the evening's campfire, and breathe in the heady perfume of Ponderosa Pine.
